I successfully defended my Candidacy in the Doctorate of Distance Education program at Athabasca University in early December, 2020. My doctoral research project examines learner perceptions of OER-enabled pedagogy. I enact OER-enabled pedagogy in the form of a renewable assignment, a capstone project in a course on Truth and Reconciliation.
The candidacy process knocked the energy right out of me. However, I am always happy to talk to grad students about the proposal revision process, how I prepared for the candidacy exam, the types of questions that were asked of me, and whatever else they might be interested in!
Next I’ll be working on my revisions and moving forward with my REB applications, supported as always by my wonderful supervisor, Dr. Dianne Conrad.
…and that’s where I’m at right now (12-21-2020)!
